Nestor Haddo's 60-yard punt return for TD leads Clarke

With Clarke hanging on to a one-point lead, Nestor Haddo returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown as the Rams (3-1) went on to defeat Mineola, 27-13, yesterday in Nassau III.

Clarke added an insurance touchdown on a 19-yard pass from Pete Falgiano to John Fogarty. The Clarke defense made three interceptions -- one each from Haddo, Kyle Wenzel and Andrew Eannucci.

Roosevelt 35, Island Trees 14: Johnnie Aikins had 293 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries to lead Roosevelt (4-0). The Roughriders' defense shut out Island Trees in the first half and was led by Neftali Henderson, who had six tackles, and Rob Hansen, who had six tackles and a fumble recovery. Jordan David scored two touchdowns on the ground and totaled 30 yards rushing while Marquell Saunders went 70 yards for a touchdown on his only carry.

Valley Stream North 37, Malverne 7: With 3:30 left in the first half, Valley Stream North's James Celiberti intercepted Malverne in the end zone, launching a 96-yard scoring drive capped by Billy Patsos' 10-yard TD for the 21-0 halftime lead. Patsos rushed for 251 yards and four TDs. James Capoziello made nine tackles. VSN is 3-1.
