With 4:25 left in the first half, it looked as if Saturday's Suffolk I game between Connetquot and Commack would go down to the wire.

It was then that Connetquot quarterback Brian McKean found Ryan Harvey in the end zone, giving his team a 21-14 lead, well on their way to a 42-21 victory and a 2-0 record.

Connetquot added another touchdown as time expired in the first half. Brian McKean tossed a 36-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Renfroe, sending Connetquot into the locker room up 28-14.

"It was a big momentum changer," Connetquot coach Mike Hansen said. "We went into halftime and the kids were all fired up. It was great for them."

McKean, who orchestrated the pre-halftime onslaught, finished the afternoon with 247 yards passing. He tossed a third touchdown in the second half, this time a 36-yard connection to Renfroe.

McKean also had 66 yards rushing.

"He ran the ball really well and made some great reads on his passes," Hansen said.

All told, Connetquot racked up 587 yards of total offense.

"We have a lot of weapons and threw the ball really well," Hansen said. "We have a lot of good skill guys."

Among those weapons was Harvey. On top of the touchdown reception, Harvey had 180 yards on 20 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns.

After listing his team's offensive accomplishments, Hansen wanted to point out one specific group of individuals -- the offensive line.

"Our offensive line did great in both run blocking and pass protecting," he said. "They really played well."
