The Connetquot football revival continues. A 47-6 victory over Sachem East Friday night in Suffolk I propelled the Thunderbirds to a 6-0 record, making last year's 1-7 finish seem like ancient history.

The win was defined by one player -- Ryan Harvey. His impact? Four touchdowns.

The Thunderbirds started early on the brisk evening. Harvey scored on a 2-yard run with 9:59 left in the first quarter, capping a seven-play drive that lasted just over two minutes. He wasn't finished

Harvey scored again in the second quarter with an 84-yard kickoff return that answered Sachem East's (3-3) touchdown. Still, Harvey wanted more.

The senior scored on a 5- yard run with five minutes remaining in the first half, giving the Thunderbirds a 19-6 lead.

All told, it was three touchdowns and 41 rushing yards. The numbers added up to a pretty good night and it was only halftime.

Sachem East's attempts to get back in the game were thwarted early in the second half. Connetquot's Jake Massaro recorded a sack on the third quarter's opening drive.

Facing a fourth down on the Sachem East 34-yard line with 9:15 left in the third quarter, Connetquot fed the ball to Harvey again. He only needed a handful of yards. He got 34. One play later, Harvey barreled 12 yards into the end zone.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of Connetquot's next score is that it didn't involve Harvey. With 8:52 remaining in the third quarter, senior quarterback Brian McKean found James Higgins on a 15-yard touchdown pass.

Once Higgins scored, other Thunderbirds followed. Junior running back Marcus Gutierrez scored on a 2-yard run with 3:36 left in the third quarter, increasing the Connetquot lead to 40-6. Mike Ansaldi had a 36-yard run to cap the scoring.

Sachem East's senior running back Steven Casali, who scored his team's TD with a 6-yard run early in the second quarter, left the game before the half with an injury after gaining 82 rushing yards. He needed 105 yards to break the 1,000-yard mark this season.
