Sean Walters capped a 99-yard drive with a 1-yard scoring run at the 3:50 mark in the fourth quarter, propelling Amityville to a 26-25 win yesterday over Westhampton in Suffolk III football.
Amityville trailed 25-14 after three quarters, but clawed back with two long scoring drives in the fourth.
Brenden Paula helped spark the comeback with a 75-yard touchdown reception down the left sideline in the fourth that cut the deficit to 25-20.
Westhampton had possession late in the fourth quarter and a chance to retake the lead, but Amityville defensive end Lonnie Pernell made the third of his three sacks on a third-and-12 to help seal the win.
Walters finished with 140 yards on 22 carries, two rushing touchdowns and a passing score and Can Grady ran for 150 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown in the win.
Westhampton falls to 0-2.
Huntington 21. Comsewogue 10: Levar Butts gained 145 yards on nine carries and scored twice for Huntington (2-0). Butts added 13 tackles and a sack. Ben Kocis threw for 164 yards and scored on a 7-yard run. Infinite Tucker had nine tackles and an interception in the win. Comsewogue is 0-2.
Deer Park 20, Harborfields 7: Jasawn Thompson had touchdown runs of 86, 75 and 91 yards and finished with 307 yards on 17 carries to lead Deer Park (2-0). Thompson's runs of 86 and 75 yards in the second quarter came behind the blocking of offensive linemen Valter Piccini and John Bisono, and gave Deer Park a 13-0 lead. His 91-yard run with two minutes left in the game sealed the win. Thomas Reed had four sacks and forced a fumble in the win. Harborfields falls to 0-2.
Islip 28, Eastport-South Manor 7: Wynell Michaud ran for 101 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns, including a 31-yard run with 9:42 left in the first for Islip (1-1). Kieran Mullins completed two passes, both for touchdowns to Tim Going and Raphael Alomar. Ronnie King led Islip's defense with four sacks and eight tackles. ESM is 1-1.
Hauppauge 21, Rocky Point 7: Nick Mildon scored two touchdowns, including a 7-yard run in the second quarter that gave Hauppauge (2-0) a 7-0 lead. C.J. Ciserano scored on a 5-yard run later in the quarter to make it 14-0.
Rocky Point had a chance to score on an interception return early in the first quarter, but Ciserano forced a fumble on the 1-yard line.
Bellport 41, Kings Park 0: Jabari M'bhaso ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries to lead Bellport (2-0). M'bhaso, following a lead block by offensive lineman Nick Constantino, broke free for a 70-yard scoring run with 8:23 left in the second quarter to give Bellport a 21-0 advantage.
Nick Fountis completed 6 of 9 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns, including a 20-yard pass to Andrew Trent for the game's first score.
Kings Park drops to 0-2.
