Knight’s TD run lifts Bay Shore in OT
Bunice Knight’s 20-yard touchdown run on Bay Shore’s first offensive play of overtime gave Bay Shore a 26-20 win over Brentwood in Suffolk I football Saturday.
Khalid Hill forced a fumble on Brentwood’s first overtime play to give the ball back to Bay Shore. Hill had 10 tackles and a sack. LaShawn Creekmore caught a two-point conversion pass with 6:11 left in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 20. Knight ran in a 4-yard touchdown moments before.
Knight ran for 175 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns. Matt Ilchuk rushed for 101 yards on 12 carries. Bay Shore is 3-2.
Creekmore made 11 tackles, forced two fumbles, recovered a fumble, had a sack, and returned a kickoff 92 yards with 2:08 left in the second quarter.
Sachem East 17, Sachem North 7: Jake Kelleher had 11 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown to lead Sachem East (1-4). Jake Buckevich added a 25-yard touchdown reception. Brendan Ryan had 16 carries for 133 yards and Michael Dunn had a 32-yard field goal. John Shaw had one sack and seven tackles and John Paolella added six tackles and a fumble recovery.
Connetquot 28, Northport 12: Anthony Del Negro ran for 45 yards and a touchdown and caught five passes for 51 yards to lead Connetquot (3-2).
Taylor Stepenak’s interception with seven minutes left in the second quarter led to a 16-play drive to put Connetquot on the board after trailing 9-0 after the first quarter. George Wichelns, who ran for 24 yards and a touchdown and caught six passes for 60 yards, intercepted a pass on Northport’s next possession to lead to a five-play, 80-yard drive. It ended with Wichelns catching an 11-yard touchdown with 40 seconds remaining in the half to give Connetquot the lead for the remainder of the game.
Whitman 34, Patchogue-Medford 13: Isaiah Wilkerson completed 12 of 30 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for tying score in the second quarter to lead Whitman (3-2).
Hannah Martin kicked field goals from 22 and 35 yards to put Patchogue-Medford ahead 13-6 in the second quarter. With three seconds left in the first half, Wilkerson rolled out and ran a touchdown from 5 yards out to tie the score at 13.
With nine minutes left in the third quarter, Wilkerson connected with Jamari Brown for a 38-yard touchdown that put Whitman ahead 20-13. Five minutes later, Wilkerson completed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Justin Striviron to make the score 27-13. Brown had four catches for 109 yards and Derek Dilorenzo made 10 tackles.
Commack 39, Central Islip 7: Kevin Synder had 14 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns to lead Commack (2-3). Ryan Sheridan was 14 for 20 passing with 306 yards and a touchdown with three carries for 36 yards. Brendan McCaffery had six catches for 103 yards and a score.
Mike Gallo had three catches for 30 yards and a touchdown. Joe Slackman had one interception for a 22-yard return along with a sack and six tackles. Alec Masiello led the defense with two sacks and 12 tackles and Adam Ostrowski added a sack and seven tackles.
