Amityville breaks into win column

Junior quarterback Jala Coad scrambled for a 22-yard touchdown run with 1:02 left as host Amityville capped a 99-yard drive and won its first game of the season, 35-32, against West Babylon in Suffolk III yesterday.

Amityville blocked a 36-yard field goal with 18 seconds remaining. Coad, who had more than 250 all-purpose yards, connected with Anthony Benjamin for a 42-yard pass on the winning drive for Amityville (1-4) on its Homecoming Day.

Marc Esposito had three rushing scores for West Babylon (2-3).

Rocky Point 20, Harborfields 14: Alec Rinaldi knocked down a fourth-down pass in the back of the end zone with 12 seconds remaining for Rocky Point. Harborfields had marched from its own 20-yard line to the Rocky Point 9 in the final two minutes. Pete LaSalla ran 15 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns, the second of which gave the Eagles (3-2) a 13-0 lead in the third quarter. After Harborfields made it 13-7 early in the fourth, Sean McGovern returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.

East Islip 37, Kings Park 20: Kyle Fleitman rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns, and threw for 135 yards and a touchdown for East Islip (4-1). Fleitman’s 1-yard TD run with 11:30 left in the second quarter gave East Islip a 16-6 lead. Justin Taveras rushed for 116 yards on 11 caries and had a 74-yard touchdown. Bobby Madigan caught five passes for 135 yards.

Sayville 42, Eastport-South Manor 13: Jake Kolar had six catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns, and added a 15-yard rushing TD for Sayville (5-0). Ashton Bradley had 15 carries for 139 yards and a touchdown, and a 4-yard scoring catch. Michael Dionisio had three catches for 73 yards and one TD. Jack Coan was 17 of 25 for 245 yards and four TDs.
