McGovern FG gives Rocky Point double-OT win

Sean McGovern’s 43-yard field goal in double-overtime propelled Rocky Point to a dramatic 30-27 win over Islip in Suffolk III Friday night. After a 10-yard touchdown run in the first overtime pushed Islip ahead 27-20, Pete LaSalla tied the game for Rocky Point (4-2) with a 15-yard rushing touchdown. LaSalla also tied the game at 20 late in the third quarter with a 30-yard scamper into the end zone. LaSalla finished with 109 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, as well as an interception on defense. Alec Rinaldi found McGovern on a 60-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring in the first quarter. McGovern returned the favor with four minutes remaining in the second quarter, as he hit Rinaldi for a 30-yard touchdown on his lone passing attempt of the night.

McGovern added 15 yards on the ground on five carries, while Rinaldi had six rushing attempts for 25 yards.

Comsewogue 14, Amityville 0: After a strip-sack by Andy Suarez, Daniel Walsh recovered the fumble and ran 45 yards for the score to give Comsewogue (2-4) a 14-0 lead with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. Rob Free had 155 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Westhampton 33, Eastport-South Manor 14: Dylan Laube had 22 carries for 290 yards and four touchdowns along with one catch for 33 yards for a touchdown, to lead Westhampton (6-0). Laube also recorded a sack. Nery Luna recovered two fumbles. Chris Merle caught an interception. Liam McIntyre ran 14 times for 81 yards and Zach Arrasate ran nine times for 60 yards.
