Suffolk III football roundup: Nelson leads Huntington

Devon Nelson ran for 105 yards on 19 carries, including a go-ahead 6-yard touchdown in the third quarter to lift Huntington over Harborfields, 20-18, in a Suffolk III football opener for both teams Saturday.

Christian Jamison had two receptions for 57 yards and a score for Huntington. He secured the victory with an end zone interception with 13 seconds remaining. Huntington's Ben Kocis was 7-for-12 passing for 120 yards and two touchdowns, and Tyler Greenhill had four catches for 60 yards and a touchdown, to go with an interception on defense.

Amityville 38, Hauppauge 27: Sean Walters ran for 236 yards and three touchdowns, and he completed 7 of 9 passes for 66 yards to lead Amityville in the opener for both teams Friday night. Teammate Taquan Henderson added 101 yards rushing with a touchdown, Kavionne Green had four receptions for 43 yards, and Eric Willis had 60 yards and a TD and seven tackles at linebacker.

Rocky Point 37, Eastport-South Manor 12: Quentin Lambert was 7-for-11 passing for 235 yards and four touchdowns to lead Rocky Point in the opener for both teams. Teammate Dillon Campbell had three catches for 160 yards, including touchdowns of 63 and 57 yards, Nick LaSalla rushed for 103 yards to go with a 25-yard TD catch, and Zachary Yazak made eight tackles.
