Tom Joyce, the Thorp Award winner from MacArthur, has committed to play for Sacred Heart next season. The 5-11, 200-pound linebacker made 104 tackles with four sacks and two forced fumbles for the Generals this past season.
He also ran for 456 yards and eight touchdowns as a fullback for the Generals (5-4), whose season ended with a 24-22 loss to Farmingdale in the Conference I quarterfinals.
He'll play linebacker for Sacred Heart — an FCS school that plays in the Northeast Conference.
"They showed me a lot of love," Joyce said of his decision. "It just felt like, when I went there, I was already part of the family and part of the plan. They already have a plan for me. I felt very comfortable, and it seemed to be the right fit for me."
He chose Sacred Heart over Marist, which also offered him a full scholarship.
