Zahradka's five touchdowns lead Carey victory

Kyle Zahradka threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 93 yards and another score to lead Carey as it defeated Bellmore JFK, 45-27, yesterday in Nassau Conference II football.

Giuliano Bove had four receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns and Steven Marino caught two passes for 99 yards and a score and returned an interception 74 yards for another for Carey (4-0). Zahradka's 17-yard touchdown to Rob Milonas in the third quarter capped Carey's 18-play, 86-yard drive that chewed 6:20 off the clock and gave the Seahawks a 32-14 lead.

Rob Zorn ran for 65 yards and a touchdown and led the defense with 13 tackles. Bellmore is 1-3.

Valley Stream Central 24, Roslyn 12: Laton Butler ran for 161 yards and two touchdowns to lead Valley Stream Central (2-2). Ricky Grasso was 6-for-10 with 76 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score. Steven Puccio had four catches for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Senior defensive tackle Victor Ochi had nine tackles and career-high four sacks. Roslyn is 1-3.

Wantagh 22, New Hyde Park 0: Nick Mullen was 10-for-15 for 162 yards and two touchdowns to lead Wantagh (4-0). Mike Scully ran for 104 yards and John Reicherter had four catches for 79 yards and a touchdown and ran for another 48 yards. Ryan Walsh had 11 tackles and an interception to lead the defense, which forced four turnovers. New Hyde Park is 1-2.

Mepham 48, Westbury 13: Nick White was 8-for-11 for 155 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 40 yards to lead Mepham (3-1). Dylan Gordan had two touchdown receptions, Miguel Shaw had two rushing touchdowns and Kevin Tauriello ran for 105 yards and a score.

Defensive end Joe Aliberti had eight tackles, a sack and a fourth-quarter interception and Chris Shevins had a fumble recovery to lead the defense. Westbury is 1-3.

Garden City 43, Long Beach 6: Stephen Jahelka ran for 58 yards and three touchdowns to lead Garden City (3-1). Ryan Norton, who was 5-for-5 on extra points in the game, has connected on all 15 attempts this season and added two field goals for the Trojans. Garden City's backs totaled 191 rushing yards on 33 carries. Nick Zawisha had a sack. Long Beach is 2-2.
