Francis' late jumper wins it for Jericho

Shawn Francis scored on a short jumper with four seconds left to lift Jericho to a 54-52 boys basketball win over Valley Stream South Tuesday. Jericho is now 1-2 in Nassau Conference ABC-II. With Jericho trailing by seven after three quarters, Andrew Bauman scored eight of his team-high 19, including two three-pointers, in an 18-9 fourth quarter. Obinna Nwaigwe had a game-high 28 points to lead VSS. Sewanhaka 68, Island Trees 48: Junior Shella Adeniran scored 22 points and grabbed a career-high 23 rebounds and C.J. Brown added 21 points to lead Sewanhaka (2-1) in Conference ABC-III. Dan Bartlett hit six three-pointers for 18 points to lead Island Trees.Great Neck North 53, Valley Stream North 51: Brandon Benilevi scored six of his 23 points in overtime, including a layup with less than a minute left to give Great Neck North (3-0) a five-point lead in ABC-III. Tyrone Conyers led Valley Stream North with 14 points.Newfield 35, West Islip 32: Maurice Hall hit a three-pointer with 54 seconds left to give Newfield (4-0) a 32-30 lead in League III. Jeren Hall added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Newfield, which used a 15-4 run in the fourth to overcome an eight-point deficit with six minutes left.

Centereach 55, North Babylon 52: Senior Billy Garzon hit a pair of free throws with four seconds left to provide the final margin for Centereach (1-3) in League III. Garzon finished with 14 points, including the 500th of his career, coach Ryan McNeely said. James Tuccillo finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds for Centereach.

Copiague 75, Deer Park 68: Wade Richardson had 22 points and Nasha Smith 21, including nine second-half free throws for Copiague (3-1) in League IV. Tyrek English added 10 points and seven rebounds and P.J. Page had six blocks.Half Hollow Hills West 89, Riverhead 65: Junior Tavon Sledge set career highs in points (23) and assists (13) and Emile Blackman also had a career-high with 23 points as Half Hollow Hills West improved to 4-0 in League IV. Tobias Harris scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Tyler Harris had nine points, eight steals and seven assists.Harborfields 57, Kings Park 46: Matt Curry had 17 points and Matt McLeod 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as Harborfields (7-0) overcame a 36-27 halftime deficit in League V.

Hauppauge 45, Huntington 43: Christian Gonzalez scored eight of his 14 points during a 24-7 fourth quarter for Hauppauge (3-4), which overcame a 36-21 deficit in League V.

Glenn 52, East Hampton 49: Roshawn Polight hit a two with 15 seconds left in the game to provide the final margin for Glenn (4-3) in League VI. Holy Trinity 60, Chaminade 46: Tyler Siedman had 16 points and Rick VanAllen added 12 points and eight rebounds for Holy Trinity (2-1) in CHSAA. Nick Ferreiro added 11 points and five steals in the win for the Titans.St. Mary's 55, Stepinac 45: Chaz Morrish had two key steals that helped ignite an 18-7 third-quarter run for St. Mary's (9-5) in non-league. Chauvaughn Lewis led St. Mary's with 16 points and 12 rebounds and Dante Agnew added 13 points.
