Allysia Rohlehr, considered one of the top shooters in the tri-state, will play her senior season at St. John the Baptist, according to SJB coach Ted Oberg. Rohlehr played with St. Michael Academy (Manhattan) last season, but the school closed and the team moved to Nazareth in Brooklyn. Rohlehr, who lives in Island Park, will be closer to home.
The 5-10 guard is being recruited by many Division I programs.
"She is of the best shooting guards in the state and a highly sought after Division I prospect," Oberg said. "She's not only a leader on the court but a leader in the classroom with a 4.0 average. She adds a tremendous amount of firepower to an already potent SJB offensive arsenal with All-Long Island teammates Alexis Smith and Kamala Thompson. She is a game changer. With the addition of Roehler, SJB has seven potential Division I players on its roster."
SJB is the defending NSCHSAA champions and returns most of the team.
