Alyssa Olson had 21 points, including a jumper with 30 seconds left to give Comsewogue a one-point lead in a 42-39 win over Ward Melville Tuesday in non-league girls basketball.
Olson's jumper gave Comsewogue a 40-39 lead. Nicole Busutill added two free throws to provide the final margin. Kerry MacKinnon added eight points, 11 rebounds and four steals in the win.
Kings Park 39, Shoreham-Wading River 38: Emily Santoli had 13 points and six steals and Brittany Mueller chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds for Kings Park in non-league. Shoreham-Wading River missed a potential winning shot as time expired.
Glenn 51, Smithtown East 34: Meaghan Haber had 13 points and seven steals to lead Glenn (1-0) in non-league.
Mattituck 52, Our Lady of Mercy 41: Ally Wilcenski had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Shannon Dwyer 16 points and nine rebounds as Mattituck overcame a 17-4 first-quarter deficit in the Lindenhurst Tournament. Mattituck plays Lindenhurst, a 52-27 winner over Amityville, at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
North Shore 66, Sewanhaka 51: Junior Caroline Robertson had a career-high 23 points and went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line during a 21-13 fourth quarter for North Shore in the Wantagh Booster Club Tournament. Robertson added 11 rebounds, seven steals and four assists, Erin Sheerin had nine points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals and five assists and Alexandra Cantwell 16 points, 13 rebounds, seven steals and five assists.Mepham 48, MacArthur 32: Ally Murphy had 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Nicole Castaldo had 14 points and nine rebounds to lead Mepham in its Hoops for a Cure game. Proceeds from the game will go to breast cancer research.
Island Trees 45, New Hyde Park 27: Brianna Wilson had 16 points and seven assists for Island Trees in its season opener in the South Side Tournament. Westbury 33, Malverne 21: Kayla Bomani had 13 points and three rebounds, Danielle Ramsey had nine points and 10 rebounds and Renee Watson had four points and 11 rebounds to lead Westbury in non-conference.
