Bria Hartley selected to McDonald's All-American Game

Bria Hartley has been selected to the McDonald's All-American game. The North Babylon senior point guard is the third player from Long Island to be selected to the game. Danielle Wilson (St. John the Baptist) and Sammy Prahalis (Commack) are the others. The girls game started in 2002.

"I’m happy about it," Hartley said. "I’ve always wanted to be picked for this game. Danielle and Sammy are great players. It’s good to follow in their footsteps."

Hartley was also named to the WBCA All-Star game on Tuesday. The UConn-bound Hartley is averaging 27 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.5 steals and four assists. She has 1,824 career points.

"Some players at her level get complacent," North Babylon coach Mike Petre said. "She keeps setting the bar high for herself. She has received a ton of individual awards and she doesn't settle. She continues to strive to get better."

The games will be played March 31 at the Value City Center in Columbus. The girls game begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys game at 8:30 p.m.

Tobias Harris from Half Hollow Hills West was named to the boys team.
