And you thought you had seen St. Mary's play St. Anthony's for the last time this season.

Just when the Gaels figured they had finally overcome the Friars, whom they dethroned last week to capture the league title, their paths are set to cross once again.

Jordan Augustus had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Mei-Lyn Bautista added 10 points and nine assists as St. Mary's defeated Bishop Loughlin, 67-48, in the CHSAA state quarterfinals Wednesday night at St. Anthony's High School. The Gaels advance to the state semifinal against St. Anthony's at 8 p.m. Friday at Holy Trinity.

McKayla Hernandez, who had eight points, drained a three-pointer midway through the second quarter that ignited a 20-0 run for the Gaels. Bautista followed with a three of her own and later stripped the ball, went coast to coast, eluded a defender with a head fake and laid the ball in to open a 42-20 lead.

The run set the stage for their fourth and final showdown of the season with St. Anthony's -- this one with a trip to the state title game on the line.

"We both are so used to playing each other," Hernandez said. "I'm pretty excited for this game. It would mean everything to all of us to beat them and go play for a state championship."
