Late jumper by Great Neck South's Parada sinks E. Meadow

Silvana Parada hit a 15-foot pull-up jumper with 8.1 seconds left to lift Great Neck South over East Meadow, 40-39, Wednesday in AA-II girls basketball.

Parada scored seven of her 19 points in the 14-7 fourth quarter as Great Neck South (7-0) rallied. Melissa Cohen (11 points, seven assists) hit a driving layup with 17 seconds left to put East Meadow up 39-38. Michelle Ross added five points and nine rebounds for Great Neck South.

Lynbrook 55, Elmont 48: Jessy Rosen scored 14 of her 16 points in an 18-3 fourth quarter to lead Lynbrook (5-2) in ABC-I. Brooke Gerstman had a game-high 22 points. Shannon Doody had 14 points, six rebounds and five assists.

South Side 62, Wantagh 57: Colleen Burke hit four straight free throws in the second overtime to seal the victory for South Side (4-4). Burke had 13 points, five assists and three steals. Megan Lonergan added 14 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks and Christina Merrifield had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Locust Valley 45, Roosevelt 41: Courtney Morgan scored 10 points, including four free throws in the final minute, for Locust Valley (4-3) in ABC-II. Alexis Monserrate scored 12 points and Booke Spallino added 11. Simone Thomas led Roosevelt with 25 points.

Wheatley 44, Bethpage 40: Marie Ferrar hit two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to hold off Bethpage and seal the win for Wheatley (6-3) in ABC-V. Olivia McCracken had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Kia Zivari and Paige Feldman each scored seven.

Great Neck North 57, Friends Academy 47: Jennifer Doppelt had 23 points and 18 rebounds and Haley Finklestein added 19 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks and four steals for Great Neck North (6-2). Jackie Behar had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Baldwin 58, Massapequa 50: Alex Hampton had 18 points, four assists and two steals to lead Baldwin (7-1). Shayna Gatling added 15 points and seven rebounds.
