Leondis helps spark Garden City over Lynbrook

Diana Leondis had 22 points, including a jumper with 58 seconds left, as Garden City held off Lynbrook, 43-39, in a battle for first place in Conference ABC-I Friday night.

Leondis' shot gave the Trojans (7-1) a 39-38 lead. Leondis and teammate Barbara Sullivan (11 points) each hit a pair of free throws in the final seconds for the final margin.

Garden City, which overcame a 19-6 lead in the second quarter, is in sole possession of first place.

Brooke Gerstman had 16 points for Lynbrook (6-3).

Wantagh 39, New Hyde Park 38: Jackie Sileo had 15 points, including a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left, to give Wantagh (4-5) a 39-35 lead in Nassau Conference ABC-I. New Hyde Park outscored Wantagh 17-3 in the fourth quarter and hit a three at the buzzer to make it a one-point margin. Ciara McCullagh scored a game-high 21 points for New Hyde Park (0-9).Freeport 36, Calhoun 31: Latashia Morris (19 points) hit a layup with 30 seconds left to give Freeport (3-6) a 33-31 lead in Conference AA-II. Morris went 3-for-4 from the free throw line in the final 25 seconds to provide the final margin.Locust Valley 53, Seaford 43: Courtney Morgan scored five of her 12 points during a 12-2 third quarter as Locust Valley improved to 5-3 in Conference ABC-II. Alexis Monserrate had 16 points and Isabel Pagliaccio added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Carle Place 47, Manhasset 46: Dana McLaughlin (eight points, six assists) hit a three-pointer and Samantha Burden (12 points) added two free throws in the final 36 seconds to put Carle Place (5-3) ahead 47-43 in Conference ABC-III. Emily Mullin led Carle Place with 19 points and six steals.

Mineola 47, Island Trees 36: Kalie Medlock and her sister, Kerri, scored all the points during a 13-5 fourth-quarter run that gave Mineola (6-2) a 44-33 lead with 1:50 left in Conference ABC-IV. Kalie finishes with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kerri had seven points. Center Moriches 49, Hampton Bays 36: Jessica Bandrowski had 20 points and seven steals and Amber Davis added 14 points, nine rebounds and seven steals for Center Moriches (6-1) in League VII.

Mercy 45, Port Jefferson 36: Kristin Bieber had 18 points for Mercy (4-4) in League VIII. Ali Nicholson added eight points and four rebounds.Our Lady of Mercy 33, Holy Trinity 32: Olivia Walsh hit a two-pointer to give Our Lady of Mercy a 29-28 lead with three minutes left and Allison Multer later hit a jumper to give OLMA (2-5) a four-point lead in CHSAA. Amanda Walsh led OLMA with 11 points and Brittany Bentsen had 10 rebounds. Kristen Korsevinski led Holy Trinity with 12 points.
