LIVE BLOG: CHSAA semifinal: Kellenberg vs. St. Mary's

Game 2 of the NSCHSAA semifinals as top-seeded Kellenberg takes on No. 4 St. Mary's. The teams split during the regular season.

FIRST QUARTER: What a fast-paced quarter. Shannon Flynn has 10 points and Jessica Mattone has eight for St. Mary's. Meghan Leap and Emma O'Connor have five for Kellenberg. St. Mary's leads 19-18 late in the first quarter.

If you haven't watched St. Mary's play, they love to shoot the three-pointer and boy can they shoot. Maddie Jankowski hit a three-pointer with four seconds left to give the Gaels a 22-19 lead after one quarter. The Gaels hit five three's in the quarter. St. Mary's leads 22-19 after one.

SECOND QUARTER: Sorry for the lack of updates. There were no timeouts in the quarter. Kellenberg leads 33-31 at the half. Khadijah Donaldson scored 11 points in the quarter and has 16 for the game. The Firebirds have had success getting her the ball under the basket and the sophomore has converted. Kellenberg is getting contributions from everyone. O'Connor has taken just four shots from the field. She has five points and Katie Cunningham has three points. Leap has five and Nicole Trepeta has four points.

St. Mary's has hit six three-pointers. Shannon Flynn has 15 points, Mattone has eight and Jankowski has six points. The Gaels have done an excellent job of moving the ball and finding the open shooter. It has been an entertaining first half if you like offense.

HALFTIME: Kellenberg 33, St. Mary's 31 

THIRD QUARTER: O'Connor has come out strong to start the quarter. She has four points to give the Firebirds a 37-31 lead with 5:39 left in the quarter.

O'Connor scored nine consecutive points to open the quarter. Flynn broke the streak with 4:39 left to pull St. Mary's withinh 42-33. Flynn scored five straight points to pull the Gaels within 44-38 with 2:07 left before O'Connor scored, Cunningham got a steal and layup and an O'Connor block led to a fastbreak layup for Leap to make it 50-38 after three quarter. O'Connor had 11 in the quarter, while Flynn had all seven for the Gaels.  

FOURTH QUARTER: Leap has had a good game for the Firebirds. She opened the quarter with a score off a feed from O'Connor, Flynn hit a three-pointer, but Donaldson scored to give the Firebirds a 54-41 lead.

Kellenberg leads 57-43 with 4:17 left. Flynn has 10 of the Gaels' 10 points in the second half and 25 for the game. O'Connor and Donaldson each have 18 points.

Flynn is doing all she could with 29 points, including 14 of the Gaels' 16 second-half points, but O'Connor has been unstoppable in the second half. She has 15 points in the half and has shot 6-for-7 from the field in the half. Kellenberg leads 61-47 with 1:54 left.
