ALBANY - Long Island Lutheran's full-court trap snared Scholars Academy early.

The Lady Crusaders used a 12-0 first-quarter burst to build a huge lead and coasted to a 72-44 victory Friday morning in the Class B state Federation girls basketball tournament at the Times Union Center.

LuHi (18-5) will face the winner the Cardinal O'Hara-Irvington game in Saturday's final at 10:30 a.m.

Boogie Brozoski sparked the early surge, converting two steals into left-handed layups and scoring with a right-handed scoop shot that resulted in a three-point play. Lutheran held a 28-8 lead after the first quarter, and coach Rich Slater used his reserves liberally after that.

Staci Barrett was an inside force, scoring 11 of her 16 points in the second quarter. She added eight rebounds. Christina Raiti nailed three of her five three-point attempts in the third quarter and finished with 15 points. Sade Gibbons came off the bench to grab 11 rebounds. Brozoski finished with nine points and four assists. Paige Kriftcher, seeing her first real action since Jan. 9 when she suffered a torn MCL in her left knee, contributed six points, five assists and four steals.

Jessica Glaz led Scholar Academy (25-4) with 21 points, including five treys.
