Roundup: Allen leads Riverhead girls basketball to win

Shaniece Allen had 26 points and went 6-for-6 from the foul line in the final minute to seal Riverhead's 78-68 Suffolk League IV victory over Smithtown West last night.

Karalee Vonatzki had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Jalyn Brown had 14 points and nine assists for the Blue Waves (8-2). Senior Shneeka Center had a career-high 41 points for Smithtown West (8-1).

Deer Park 42, Eastport-South Manor 31: Andrea Desvignes had 10 of her 14 points in the first half and Shayna Robinson had 10 of her 14 in the second half to lead Deer Park (4-5). Eastport-South Manor is 6-4.

East Islip 58, Centereach 56: Paige Meehan (21 points) hit a three-pointer to tie the score at 51 with less than a minute left in regulation, then scored EI's first six points of overtime, including a three-pointer with 25 seconds remaining that made it 57-56 in League III. Laura Hill had 15 points and 14 rebounds for EI (7-1). Danielle Hamlin had 17 points for Centereach (2-6).

West Islip 47, Smithtown East 39: Julie Flaherty had 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for West Islip (4-3). Smithtown East is 5-3.

Amityville 63, Miller Place 61: Melissa Marshall hit a breakaway layup with one minute left to break a tie at 61 for Amityville (7-4) in League VI. Raven Price had 16 points and 15 rebounds. Brea Greene's 21 points led Miller Place (7-4).

Wyandanch 55, Hampton Bays 44: Kim Weathers had 19 points and Dejanae Mike added 12 for Wyandanch (5-2) in League VII. Wyandanch qualified for the playoffs with the victory. Theresa Carey had 16 points to lead Hampton Bays (2-5).

Lawrence Woodmere Academy 56, Knox 20: Caroline Clark had 20 points and nine rebounds and Hayley Alexander had 20 points and nine assists to lead Lawrence Woodmere Academy (9-4) in IPPSAL. Freshman Rica Laventure scored eight points for LWA.
