Sileo leads Wantagh past Elmont in girls basketball

Jackie Sileo hit a driving layup with 2:10 remaining to lift Wantagh to a 47-44 win over Elmont on Friday in a Nassau Conference ABC-I girls basketball.

Sileo's layup gave the Warriors (2-3) a 43-42 lead. Patricia Simpson's three-pointer extended the lead to 46-42 with 1:50 left. Kaleigh Craig (21 points, 16 rebounds) added a free-throw with 18 seconds left to provide the final margin. Craig finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Jasmine Cobbs had 20 points for Elmont.Farmingdale 57, MacArthur 49: Kyra Ochwat had 19 points and nine rebounds for Farmingdale (3-1) in Conference I-AA. Kelly McPartland added 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Alexis Tannariello chipped in eight points and five assists.North Shore 76, Oyster Bay 75: Senior Elle Hoffman had a career-high 17 points, including a three-pointer with 45 seconds left to give North Shore (2-2) a 76-72 lead in Conference ABC-II. Freshman Erin Sheerin had a career-high 13 points and 10 rebounds and Kathleen Lennon 13 points and 14 rebounds. Joshlyn Grant had 29 points and Keri Bongiovanni 26 points for Oyster Bay. Valley Stream South 46, Hewlett 39: Ugo Nwaigwe had 11 points, 10 blocks and five steals to lead Valley Stream South (1-4) in Conference ABC-IV. Nicole Salem had 11 points and seven steals and sophomore Jessica Liberato 10 points.Bethpage 39, Friends Academy 34: Brianna Black hit a three-pointer late in the fourth quarter to put Bethpage (2-3) ahead 35-34 in Conference ABC-V. Nicole Ginsberg and Gallagher hit two free throws each down the stretch to complete a 21-2 game-ending run for the Golden Eagles. Gallagher scored all 10 of her points in the fourth quarter, to help Bethpage erase a 32-18 deficit. Baldwin 53, Farmingdale 44: Dominique Aberdeen had 14 points, five assists and two blocks for Baldwin (2-2) in Conference AA-I. Donte Howell added 11 points and seven assists, and T'Ziah Wood-Smith chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds.Freeport 72, Calhoun 57: Senior Jared Staton scored 23 of his career-high 32 points during a 49-32 second half for Freeport (3-2) in Conference AA-III.
