Byrnes, Ziegler help West Islip girls win

Erin Byrnes scored with 2:46 left to give West Islip a one-goal lead en route to a 14-13 win over Massapequa Saturday in non-league girls lacrosse. That goal made it 13-12. West Islip trailed 12-8 with 5:33 remaining, but scored four goals in two minutes, capped by Devan Crimi's goal with 3:40 left. Lauren Ziegler scored with 1:13 left to extend the lead to 14-12. Crimi had five goals and four assists.

Calhoun 11, Syosset 3: Diandra Hanna had four goals and an assist and Jessica Teves added two goals for Calhoun in non-league.Bellmore JFK 11, Carey 7: Brittany Mascaro had two goals and an assist to lead Bellmore in non-league. Samantha Rothery added a goal and three assists.

Locust Valley 15, East Meadow 6: Bairre Reilly had six goals and three assists to lead Locust Valley in Conference III. Aubrey Cannone added four goals and two assists.

Lynbrook 16, Bethpage 4: Kacey Carter had four goals and an assist to lead Lynbrook. Carrie Feltkamp added three goals and an assist.

Port Washington 15, Seaford 7: Alexa Froccaro scored seven goals and had three assist for her second consecutive 10-point game to lead Port Washington. Her cousin, Jackie Froccaro, added five goals and an assist.

Jericho 11, Plainview JFK 5: Caroline Motschwiller had five goals and two assists for Jericho in Conference IV. Renee Kiviat added two goals and two assists.

Great Neck North 17, Elmont 13: Emily Rothkrug had six goals and one assist to lead GNN in Conference V. Rae Berger added four goals.

Sayville 10, Lindenhurst 9: Connie Neilsen scored with 1:30 left in the game to win it for Sayville. Taylor Mills and Emily Meier each added two goals and an assist.

boys LACROSSE

St. Dominic 7, St. Joseph Sea 6: R.J. Biel scored off an assist from Dan Ahern (four goals) with two minutes left in the second overtime to win it for St. Dominic in CHSAA. Ahern scored with three minutes left in regulation to tie the score at 6.

St. John the Baptist 7, Holy Trinity 6: Blake Ferraro scored with 9:20 left on an assist from Matt Scott in the game to give SJB the win. Nick Olson tied the score at 6 with 11:18 remaining in the fourth quarter for Holy Trinity.

Valley Stream District 12, Great Neck North 11: Henry Waslo scored with 38 seconds left in overtime to lead Valley Stream District in non-league. Valley Stream District, which trailed 10-4 entering the fourth quarter, scored seven goals in the final quarter, and tied the score on a goal from Connor Sciacca with less than two minutes left in the game. Waslo had four goals and three assists. Bill Leyesa had 20 saves.

Calhoun 9, Plainview JFK 5: Paul Grubb had three goals and two assists and Joe McGinley added two goals and three assists for Calhoun.

Division 8, Bellmore JFK 6: Fred Mase scored his fourth goal with 6:01 left in the game to give Division an 8-4 lead in the Levittown Tournament final. Tom Nuckel added three goals and an assist and Dean Knox had a goal and an assist. Zac Shuldiner and Chris Wright each had two goals and one assist to lead Bellmore JFK.Friends Academy 9, Bethpage 4: Patrick Burke had four goals and Quentin Dellafera added two goals and two assists for Friends Academy in the final of the Fran McCall Tournament.Oceanside 16, Jericho 7: John Remsen had four goals and one assist and Nick Sherry added two goals and four assists to lead Oceanside.MacArthur 11, Island Trees 3: Jamie McAndrew had three goals and three assists for MacArthur.Wantagh 8, Mount Sinai 5: Ryan Walsh had two goals and an assist to lead Wantagh. Mike Sanchez won 14 of 17 faceoffs. New Hyde Park 10, West Hempstead 0: Sal Russo had 14 saves for New Hyde Park. Tim Brooks added three goals and an assist.

Brentwood 6, Southampton 5: Danny Cruz (three goals) scored with 1:30 left in the third quarter to give Brentwood (2-1) a 6-5 lead. Andrew McMenemy (three goals) tied the score at 5 earlier in the third.

East Islip 13, Glenn 10: Tyler Begley scored off a an assist from Mike Rooney with 9:20 left in the game to give East Islip a 9-8 lead. East Islip trailed 8-7 going into the fourth before Kevin Wendel scored the equalizer at 9:28. Bobby Hutchinson won 17 of 25 faceoffs.

Smithtown East 7, Huntington 5: Ryan Desimone had two goals and three assists for Smithtown East. Bryan Martin had 15 saves.

Ward Melville 10, Emmaus (Pa.) 5: Nick Giampaolo had three goals and Will Mazzone added two goals and an assist for Ward Melville.
