Losco, Hauppauge snap SWR's Suffolk winning streak

Samantha Losco had three goals and two assists as Hauppauge stopped Shoreham-Wading River's 57-game winning streak against Suffolk opponents with a 9-8 win Tuesday.

Losco scored with five minutes left in the second half to give Hauppauge (13-2, 11-2 Division II) a 9-5 lead. Shoreham-Wading River's last loss to a Suffolk team was against Rocky Point on April 24, 2007. Jennifer Porretto added one goal and two assists for Hauppauge, Stephanie Peragallo caused four turnovers and had four ground balls and Lindsey Alfano had four ground balls. Julie Giray had two ground balls and two forced turnovers, Jenna Vinci scored two goals and Lisa Vedernikova made seven saves. Kait Brosco led SWR (12-2, 11-1) with three goals and one assist.

Kings Park 13, Bellport 11: Natalie Silvers scored all three of her goals in overtime, including her final score 10 seconds into the second overtime to give Kings Park (3-9 Division II) a 12-10 lead. Kings Park's Jamie Romano (five goals, three assists) tied the score at 10 on an unassisted goal with 59 seconds left in regulation to force OT.

Rocky Point 14, Mount Sinai 13: Senior Kara Mupo (four goals, two assists) scored with 7:55 left in the game for her 305th career goal to give Rocky Point (12-1) a 14-11 lead in Division II. Samantha Mazzeo added four goals and one assist for Rocky Point.BOYS LACROSSE

Bay Shore 6, Riverhead 5: Pat Rainis scored with five minutes left to give Bay Shore (5-7) a 6-3 lead in Division I. Mario Carrera scored with 1:21 left to pull Riverhead within one. Max Sheets and Kyle Gordon each had two goals for Bay Shore.Floyd 14, Longwood 8: Ryan Payton had four goals and two assists and Luke Miller and D.J. Allen each had four goals and an assist for Floyd (7-5) in League I.Mineola 15, Island Trees 5: Billy Gerstner and Nick Grimaldi each had four goals and two assists for Mineola (3-6) in Nassau Conference IV. Nick Fabiano added two goals and an assist and Mike Escobar made eight saves. James Day led Island Trees with two goals.


Hills West wins tri-match. Michelle Rosenhouse shot a 3-under-par 29 at Dix Hills Golf Course for Half Hollow Hills West (4-5) in a 61/2-21/2 win over Hills East and an 8-1 win over Commack in a League II tri-match. Rosenhouse finished the round with an eagle and two birdies for the 29, which is a Hills West girls record and a Dix Hills course record for a high school girls match, according to Hills West coach Doug Gannon.
