Katie Hoeg is still months away from beginning her collegiate lacrosse career at defending national champion North Carolina, but her post-high school career is going strong.

The All-Long Island attack from Mattituck was named Most Valuable player at the July 3 Under Armour All-American Game at Towson University.

Hoeg had three goals and two assists in the North’s 13-11 all-star game victory. Hoeg was one of 13 Long Islanders in the game. Northport’s Carol Rose coached the North team.

The most decorated player in the brief history of the Mattituck/Southold/Greenport girls lacrosse team, Hoeg posted back-to-back 100-point seasons with 57 goals and 51 assists as a junior and 56 goals, 58 assists as a senior.
