Not everything can make it into the game story in the paper. Here are the additional quotes from after South Side's 5-2 win over Williamsville South in the Class A state semifinals Saturday.

South Side coach Shannon McEntee:

On Williamsville losing Cutrona at halftime:

We have the wind. She was very, very talented. We told coach it could have been a very different game if she stayed. Going into the second half we told them they had to press high and follow all the shots.

On Tessa Considine marking Cutrona:

Tessa did a nice job against her. It was our backup plan. We put it into effect and settled her down a little bit. Tessa did a really nice job against her.

Christina Klaum:

On Cutrona:

I knew [Cutrona]. She happens to be on my regional team. She’s unstoppable. At the half I was pretty nervous but I had a feeling that we were going to pick it back up again.

It’s hard to play against friends but I knew the way that she played. She’s very physical and a great finisher. We were lucky that she left. She’s a big impact on her team.

On her first goal:

The first one I saw Victoria on the right side of me. I played a kind of an outside through ball towards her. I ran up towards the play and she played it back on the give-and-go and I kind of tap in.

On her second goal:

We had a lot of corner kick and I saw nobody was finishing them. They were pretty good kicks and I wanted to finish on one. I saw the ball in the air and I tried to get my head towards it and it went in.

Julie Beyar:

On going to the finals:

So happy. Last year we didn’t even make it to states and now we’re here. It’s everything we’ve worked for. When we were losing we played with so much heart.

On the rarity of scoring a hat trick:

I don’t even know . Esecially for me.

On her second and third goals:

It was a corner kick and me and Alex Reis stand on the top of the box. I took and touch and ripped it. It curved and went in. The goal after that, I had the ball and this girl was on me and I just cut it past her and ripped it. Basically I just shoot it, shoot for the best.

On the success of South Side and the other Section VIII teams:

I’m really supportive of other Nassau teams. I want them to go far. When they win too I get happy because I know girls on the teams. I want them to win because it’s the best feeling.

On what made her play up field Saturday:

I don’t know. Especially me, I’m a senior so I don’t want to lose. I had to give it my all and I wanted the ball. I scored three goals it’s just the best feeling ever. I’m so happy.
