Pumo, Ryan help Oceanside girls stun Mepham

Tina Pumo broke a scoreless tie 12 minutes into the second half and Katie Ryan headed in a cross by Vanessa Cornacchio with 15 minutes remaining as No. 10 Oceanside (8-4-2) upset No. 2 Mepham, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the Nassau Class AA girls soccer playoffs Tuesday. Jessica Kambic had 18 saves to preserve the win for Oceanside, who advance to play No. 3 MacArthur at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.MacArthur 5, Baldwin 2: Amanda Cantos scored two goals to lead No. 3 MacArthur over No. 11 Baldwin in the quarterfinals of the Class AA playoffs. Kristen Gay, Kelly Kempf and Jill Mulholland each added goals for MacArthur. Baldwin's N'Dea Johnson scored two second-half goals.

Massapequa 1, Bellmore JFK 0: Erica Modena set up Rosie DiMartino for the game-winning goal with 10 minutes remaining to lead No. 1 Massapequa over No. 8 Bellmore JFK in the Class AA quarterfinals. Massapequa advances to play No. 5 Farmingdale at 4 p.m. on Friday.Farmingdale 1, Calhoun 0: Amanda Turturro scored the winner off a pass from Nadine Hadnagy with 12 minutes remaining to lead No. 5 Farmingdale (10-2-2) over No. 4 Calhoun in the quarterfinals of the Class AA playoffs. Kaitlin Gaghan had eight saves in the shutout.
