With North Babylon needing one more win to secure a playoff berth, Emily Ude offered some words of comfort for her coach before Monday’s game.
“Don’t worry, Coach,” she said. “We got this.”
She then backed up those words by recording a hat trick, her second in three games, to propel North Babylon to a 5-2 win over Half Hollow Hills West.
“I believe great players are at their best when things are toughest,” North Babylon coach Steve Corrado said. “That’s why they rise above the rest.”
Ude now has 13 goals this season, matching her total from last season when she was named first-team all-state.
Her 37 career goals are third most in program history, two behind Casey Filippone for second.
North Babylon (6-5) wraps up the regular season on Wednesday at West Babylon with playoff positioning still on the line. Nevertheless, it’s a tough game that won’t be quite as stressful thanks in large part to Ude.
