Newsday's All-Long Island boys golf team 2016

Meet those who played their way onto Newsday's All-Long Island boys golf team for the 2016 spring eason.

Long Island Golfer of the Year: Gerry Mackedon, Ward Melville, Sr.

Mackedon tied for second at the state tournament with a 4-over-146 over two rounds at Cornell. The St. John's-bound golfer also won the Suffolk individual title with a 3-over 145 at Middle Island Country Club, and shot a 2-over 73 at Bethpage to lead the unbeaten Patriots to their second consecutive Long Island Championship.

Mickey Brennan, St. Dominic, Jr.

Brennan was named the Catholic League's Player of

Brennan was named the Catholic League's Player of the Year. He won the CHSAA state title on two playoff holes after shooting a 3-over-75 at James Baird Golf Course in Pleasant Valley.

Tyler Gerbavsits, Huntington, Soph.

Gerbavsits was Long Island's second-best finisher at the

Gerbavsits was Long Island's second-best finisher at the state tournament, as he shot an 8-over 150 to tie for 10th.

MIchael Nadeau, Sayville, Sr.

Nadeau shot a 5-over 147 to place second

Nadeau shot a 5-over 147 to place second in the Suffolk County tournament. He also shot a 4-under par 32 during a regular season match against Islip, which was the lowest nine-hole score in the county.

Christian Oakley, Southampton, Jr.

Oakley took 13th at the state tournament on

Oakley took 13th at the state tournament on the strength of a 1-over-par 72 on Day 1.

Adam Xiao, Manhasset, Fr.

Xiao surged to the Nassau individual title by

Xiao surged to the Nassau individual title by shooting a 5-under-par 67 in the opening round at Bethpage Blue. He finished with a 2-over-par 144, which also helped Manhasset take home the team title.
