Sophomore Matt Drinkwater threw a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Greenport topped Shelter Island, 6-3, in the first game of a Suffolk League IX doubleheader Monday.

Drinkwater, who threw 105 pitches, went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and Bryant Rivas went 3-for-3.

"He did a nice job throwing strikes in tough conditions,'' Greenport coach Chris Golden said.

Christian Angelson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Austin Hooks struck out 14 as Greenport completed the sweep with a 13-3 win over Shelter Island in Game 2.

Pierson 1, Smithtown Christian 0: Aaron Schiavoni drove in Colman Vila with a single in the bottom of the fifth for Pierson (1-0) in Suffolk League IX. Vila tossed a one-hitter, with no walks and 15 strikeouts. Vila lost his bid for a no-hitter on a single in the second inning

Bayport-Blue Point 6, Glenn 2: Jack Piekos tossed six innings of no-hit ball with eight strikeouts and one walk for Bayport-Blue Point in League VII. Piekos and Ryan Dollop each had two RBIs. Bayport-Blue Point coach Jim Moccio picked up his 200th win.

Amityville 10, East Hampton 2: Peter Slater struck out 13 and gave up two unearned runs in a two-hitter to lead Amityville in League VII. Slater went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and Mike LaRosa went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in the win. Mattituck 4, Babylon 3: Brian Pelan singled home Austin Pase with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth to lift Mattituck in League VIII. Chris Dwyer struck out three in two innings of relief for the win.SOFTBALL

Sachem North 17, Central Islip 0: Freshman lefthander Rebecca Amadeo struck out six in a five-inning perfect game for Sachem North in its Suffolk League II opener. Kirsten Bello went 4-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and four runs scored and Chelsea Palma added two homers.

Jericho 6, Cold Spring Harbor 5: Rachel Hershheimer drove in Farrah Buzen with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth for Jericho in non-league. Buzen's run-scoring double in the inning tied the score at 5. Bailey Donovan went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the win.

East Islip 6, Hauppauge 3: Heather Zenk had a three-run single in the top of the seventh to provide the final margin for East Islip, which overcame a 3-0 deficit in League IV. Alexa Martone had an RBI triple in the fifth that tied the score at 3 for East Islip. Eighth-grader Courtney Greene struck out nine and walked four in a four-hitter in her first varsity start. Rocky Point 7, East Hampton 5: Kelly Fitzpatrick had a single, double, and three RBIs to lift Rocky Point in League VI. Annie Kennedy struck out seven for the win.
