Meet the athletes who made it onto Newsday's All-Long Island gymnastics team for the 2014-15 winter season.
Long Island Gymnast of the Year
Ward Melville, Junior
Cydney Crasa added two more individual gold medals to her already crowded trophy case with wins in the vault (9.825) and balance beam (9.575) at the state tournament. Crasa, who has secured a full scholarship to George Washington University, earned a third gold medal for being a part of Suffolk’s first-place team finish. The Ward Melville junior won the all-around with a 38.275 at the individual state qualifer meet in November.

Katie Bowe’s 9.45 on the bars was good for her first gold medal at the state tournament. She also placed fourth on the beam (9.45), and was third in the all-around at the state qualifier.
Jessica Lopez was the only Nassau gymnast to earn scores above 9.0 in all four events at the state qualifier -- vault (9.225), bars (9.300), beam (9.600) and floor (9.350) – en route to winning the all-around.
Gillian Murphy’s overall score of 35.125 landed her in second place at the state qualifier meet. She also tied for 8th in the vault at the state tournament with her score of 9.35.
A fourth-place finisher in the all-around at the state qualifier with a 36.65, Nikianne Otto cemented her place in Connetquot lore by shattering school records in the floor (9.7), beam (9.8) and vault (9.35) over the course of the season.
