Huntington's Jacoby throws perfect game

Senior Samantha Jacoby threw her first perfect game to lead Huntington (4-8) over Rocky Point, 2-0, in a League V/VI crossover softball game on Friday. Jacoby struck out 13 in the win. Laurelle Byrne-Cody went 2-for-3 with both RBIs.

East Islip 12, Newfield 0: Senior Rachel Dell'Orto struck out nine and walked three in throwing her first no-hitter of the season for East Islip (12-1) in League III. Colleen Smith went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs, two runs and a stolen base.

Riverhead 12, Copiague 0: Senior Julia Morrow pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks for Riverhead (10-3) in League IV. Morrow hit a batter in the third inning to lose the perfect game. She went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Emily Commins scored four runs to go with an RBI and Kara Vonatzski went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Center Moriches 13, Port Jefferson 12: Leah Harkin hit a one-out single to score Jess Bandrowski from second for the game's final run to lead Center Moriches (6-6) in League VIII. Port Jefferson (8-3) took a one-run lead in the seventh on a two-out double steal. Center Moriches tied the game in the bottom half of the inning when Cheynne Raimondi scored on a wild pitch. Krystina Lauretta went 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs.BASEBALL

Island Trees 7, Glen Cove 5: Chris Nickel hit a two-out, two run homer in the top of the eighth to put Island Trees (8-4) ahead 7-5 in Conference A-I. Bryan Verbitsky earned the win and struck out six in three innings of relief.

Mineola 1, Valley Stream North 0: Ryan Jenkins' walk-off single scored Brendan Maloney from second with two outs for Mineola (9-2) in Conference A-II, the team's eighth straight win. Junior Jimmy Bulva had a career-high 12 strikeouts.

Carey 10, Elmont 1: Paul Collazo struck out 16 in a two-hitter to earn MVP honors and lead Carey (7-5) at the Bob Walpole Classic at St. John's University. Collazo lost a perfect game on a one-out single in the top of the seventh. Collazo went 3-for-5 and Rob Miotto went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.Locust Valley 6, Wheatley 4: Bobby Finke hit a grand slam with one out in the top of the fifth to make it 5-2 for Locust Valley (11-3) in Conference BC. Sam Rozzo went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the sixth. Tom McNamara allowed no earned runs in six innings for the win.

Connetquot 12, Whitman 1: Kenny Jackson hit a two-run home run in the first inning to open the scoring and lead Connetquot (7-5) in League II. James McKenna went 2-for-3 with an RBI and pitched a two-hitter. Connetquot manager Bob Ambrosini won his 500th game.

North Babylon 4, Half Hollow Hills East 3: Adrian Rodriguez hit a run-scoring infield single with two outs in the sixth to make it 4-1 for North Babylon (4-5) in League III. Nick DeMarchis went 3-for-4 with a run and Ryan Belanger pitched a complete-game nine-hitter, allowing three runs and three walks to go with seven strikeouts.

Riverhead 7, Copiague 5: Jordan Demchuk's two-RBI single in the top of the seventh scored the winning runs for Riverhead (6-3) in League IV. With the bases loaded in the inning, Greg Zilnicki grounded out to tie the game. Mike Napoli allowed eight hits and three earned runs with seven strikeouts.

Mattituck 6, Glenn 5: Tom Ascher hit a homer to start the seventh and give Mattituck a 6-5 lead in League VII. Connor Daly had hit a bases-clearing single to tie the score at 5 in the sixth inning for Mattituck (2-7). John Sciacchitano went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Ascher allowed one earned run on six hits to go with seven strikeouts in the win.

Southold 4, Pierson 3: Shaun Hansen doubled home Darrin Standish with two outs in the top of the seventh to give Southold (5-4), its final margin in League VIII. Hansen tossed a complete-game five-hitter for the win.
