SEAN KEATING
Player of the Year

St. Anthony’s, Goaltender, Jr.
Keating has not lost a CHSAA league, playoff or championship game in two years and his sterling net work helped lead St. Anthony’s to back-to-back Catholic league titles. In 2010-11 he allowed only nine goals in 336 minutes for a stellar 1.205 GAA. He made 165 saves.

Keating helped the Friars advance to the state championships, which they lost by a single goal. It was just his second overall loss in two seasons of varsity play.

Keating won a CHSAA title with his JV team as a freshman (freshmen can’t play varsity sports at St. Anthony’s), making this year’s championship his third in three years.

JAMES VON WIEDING
Massapequa, Defenseman, Sr.
With a developed all-around game, Von Wieding helped Massapequa win the Nassau crown. The team captain was a key leader, smart athlete and strong skater, getting into the offensive action at times. His calling card was a strong physical presence that helped Massapequa hold opponents to only 48 goals in 20 games, second best in the county.

JIMMY MAZZA
St. Anthony’s, Defenseman, Jr.
Only a junior, Mazza is already a member of the Long Island Bobcats Junior-A hockey team. Playing at the higher level gives him a physical and mental edge that showed as he helped the Friars to a CHSAA title. He can control the game, quarterbacks the power play and always is matched up against opposing teams’ first lines.
