Katz's goal proves the winner for Jericho

Taylor Katz scored her third goal of the game, on an assist from Marisa Joachim, with 5:31 left in the second half to give Jericho (4-3-1) a two-goal lead in its eventual 4-3 win over visiting Wantagh in Nassau Conference IV girls soccer Thursday. April Iannetta's second goal with 3:20 remaining made it a 4-3 game for Wantagh (2-6). Farrah Waldman stopped a breakaway, her 12th save of the game, with six seconds left to preserve the win. Amanda Epstein had a goal and two assists for Jericho, and Kellie Mignoli also scored for Wantagh.Syosset 1, Oceanside 1: Dominique Compito scored on an assist from Connor Bird 10 minutes into the second half to give Syosset (5-2-1) a 1-0 lead in Conference I. Amanda Margolis tied it on an assist from Vanessa Cornacchio two minutes later for Oceanside (3-3-2). Cassie Betancourt made 17 saves for Syosset, and Jessica Kambic made 11 stops for Oceanside.Carey 2, Great Neck South 2: Breanne Bonsiglio scored the game-tying goal with two minutes remaining for Carey (3-4-2) in Conference III. Sapir Edalati put Great Neck South (2-6-1) ahead 2-1 with four minutes remaining.Ward Melville 1, Commack 0: Tara O'Hern scored off an assist from Morgan Governale in the 60th minute and Samantha Scarfogliero made nine saves for her second solo shutout of the season for Ward Melville (6-2) in League I. Jackie Birnbaum made nine saves for Commack (6-2-1).Connetquot 1, Lindenhurst 0: Kelly Geheran scored 20 minutes into the first half, off an assist by Raychel Diver, for Connetquot (8-1) in League II. Natasha Purchla made 12 saves for her ninth shutout of the season. Ariana Irizarry made 17 saves for Lindenhurst (3-5-1). North Babylon 4, Half Hollow Hills West 0: Emily Ude scored the first of her two goals in the 48th minute as North Babylon (5-2-1) scored four second-half goals in League IV. Casey Filippone added a goal and an assist, and Kelly Heimerle made four saves for her fifth shutout of the season. Eleni Lazarides made 12 saves for Hills West (8-1).


Herricks 3, East Meadow 2: Peter Gadze scored the game-winner off an assist from Alex Laplaza with 21 minutes left for Herricks (1-6-1) in Conference II. Manny DaSilva scored two goals in the win, while Gadza also had two assists. Danny Espinoza and Oscar Lopez scored for East Meadow (6-3).

Mattituck 1, Hampton Bays 0: Senior Kevin Reyer scored 10 minutes into the game, off an assist from Andres Aldaz, for Mattituck (7-2) in League VII. Cody Huntley made five saves for his seventh shutout of the season. Matt Phillips made nine saves for Hampton Bays (5-5).FIELD HOCKEY

Cold Spring Harbor 1, Garden City 1: Catherine McTiernan scored with 21:07 left in the first half to tie the score at 1 for Garden City (10-0-1) in Conference I. Victoria Kotowski had given Cold Spring Harbor (6-2-1) a 1-0 lead 59 seconds earlier off a corner from Maggie Dischmann. The game was stopped after halftime because of dangerous field conditions, according to officials. The score is final.

Smithtown West 2, Commack 1: Alexa Riportella scored on an assist from Allison Brodmerkel with 20 minutes left in the second half to give Smithtown West (5-5) a 2-0 lead in Division I. Jackie Wilkom made it 1-0 earlier in the half. Jenny Hajek made it 2-1 for Commack (1-8).BOYS GOLF
