Locust Valley walks off with softball win

Gabriella Graziose's one-out, bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning completed a double-digit comeback for Locust Valley (2-0 Conference BC) in a 13-12 softball win over Friends Academy. Locust Valley trailed by two going into the eighth before tying the score at 12 after Jackie D'Elia was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Falcons trailed 11-1 going into the seventh. Nicole Rozzo (3-for-4) hit a two-out, two-run double in the inning.

Valley Stream South 5, Glen Cove 4: Seventh-grader Brianna Schippell hit a two-out single to score Danielle Bowker and cap a three-run bottom of the seventh inning for VSS (1-0 Conference A-II). Bowker hit a two-out, two-run single to tie the score at 4.

Centereach 8, Smithtown East 7: Junior Monica Papel's three-run shot in the top of the seventh gave Centereach (1-0 League III) an 8-7 lead. Arianna LaPuma went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

North Babylon 11, Comsewogue 10: Theresa Cardello drove in the winning run with an infield single in the bottom of the ninth and was 4-for-6 with a double and five RBIs for North Babylon (1-0 League IV). Alyssa Gulino went 3-for-6.

Babylon 2, Mount Sinai 1: Jillian Jacinth scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh and Tiana Giuliano tossed a complete game, allowing three hits and no earned runs with eight strikeouts to lead Babylon (1-0 League VII).


Garden City 11, Division 8: Scott Conetta hit his second homer of the game, a grand slam, in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Garden City (2-0 Conference A-I) an 11-8 lead. Connetta had seven RBIs and Frank Cordio and James Cauchi each had three hits. Cordio pitched the final two scoreless innings, striking out three.
