Rubin's long-range shooting leads Solomon Schecter

Senior Josh Rubin hit a career-high seven three-pointers and scored 23 points for Solomon Schechter in a 52-49 IPPSAL win over Kew Forest Tuesday.

Marc Canarick added nine points, including two free throws with nine seconds left, that gave Solomon Schechter (5-1) a 52-47 lead. Alec Eiber added four points and eight rebounds off the bench. Ben Arabov led Kew Forest with 17 points. Patchogue-Medford 51, West Islp 49: Severio Ford hit a layup off a feed from Al Capraro with 24 seconds left to lift Patchogue-Medford (4-1) in non-league. Capraro hit a three-pointer with 49 seconds left to tie the game at 49. Brandon Sillaro led Patchogue-Medford with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Ford and Nick Sergio each added eight points. Nick Galasso and Chris Anderson led West Islip with 16 points each.

Longwood 99, Floyd 70: Darien Davis scored 20 points and was one of four double-digit scorers for Longwood (1-0 League I). Paris Parks had 19 points and Tajric Boggs added 18.Central Islip 51, Sachem North 46: Reginald Augustus hit a three-pointer with two minutes left and junior Derrick Franklin had a career-high 26 points, including four straight points that gave Central Islip (1-0) a 49-44 lead in League II. Doug Wirth had 10 points for Sachem North. Hauppauge 61, Sayville 51: Christian Gonzalez had 22 points and 20 rebounds to lead Hauppauge (1-0 League V). John Velazquez added 23 points in the win. Gonzalez had seven of his points in a 14-4 second quarter as Hauppauge erased an eight-point deficit.Southold 41, Bridgehampton 34: Kevin Parma had 11 of his 17 in the first half to lead Southold (1-0 League VIII). Jon Cepelak had eight points and Trevor Perry added 10 rebounds in the win. Cesar Banados had 13 points to lead Bridgehampton.

Port Washington 60, Farmingdale 53: Dan Bernstein had six of his 22 points in overtime to lead Port Washington (1-0) in Nassau Conference AA-I. Bernstein scored with 10 seconds left in the fourth to tie the score at 49 and force OT. Adam Epstein added 24 points in the win. Kevin Petit-Ferar led Farmingdale with 14 points.Seaford 56, Friends Academy 40: Robert Goldstein had 22 points and Bill Kempner had nine points and 15 rebounds to lead Seaford (1-0 Conference ABC-IV). Greg Quinn had six points and 10 rebounds and Phillip Slavin scored 11 points and went 7-for-8 from the line during a 20-7 fourth quarter.Roslyn 59, Lawrence 53: Nick Hadzibabic had 16 points, Tom Gloznek had 13 points and seven assists and Andrew Wolfe added 13 points for Roslyn (2-3) in non-league. Sam Greenwald had seven points and nine rebounds in the win.St. John the Baptist 71, St. Joseph's by the Sea 64: Joe Gibbons had 17 points and seven rebounds, Khaleev Ginyard had 16 points, eight assists and five steals and Dante Thomas-Smallwood had 16 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks for St. John the Baptist in non-league.
