Scholastic men's depth to be tested in basketball

Losing Jonathan Ward-Adams to an ankle injury hampered the Long Island offense. Not only was he one of the team's top scorers, Ward-Adams is also an excellent play maker.

Ward-Adams' status will be evaluated on Friday. If he can't go, Seaford's Robby Goldstein and Uniondale's Darren Chew will share the point guard duties. Amityville's Darien Croft, who led the Long Island team with 22 points in its 67-55 loss to Western on Thursday, could also spend some time running the offense.

Long Island led by 10 when Ward-Adams went down with just over 12 minutes left in the first half. Western took its first lead, 31-30, with 16:46 to go in the game and never looked back.

The Long Island scholastic team will face New York City on Friday at 4 p.m.
