The entire high school sports schedule was postponed on Monday after an early morning storm dumped several inches of snow in the area.

The postponements could wreak havoc on the boys and girls basketball playoffs. Monday’s schedule was to be the final game of the regular season. All of those games were rescheduled for Tuesday, thus pushing the playoff seeding meetings for the boys and girls to Wednesday.

“We’re trying to get all of the basketball games in by Tuesday night so we can sort out the seeds and set the playoff schedule,” said Pete Blieberg, director of athletics in the Sachem School District. “The Tuesday basketball schedule is going to be huge. We have to get it done because the playoff schedule and sites are already set. We can’t afford another postponement.”

Nassau is faced with the same situation and will also hold its final day of the regular season on Tuesday.

There are 108 high school basketball games scheduled for Tuesday.

The Suffolk state qualifiers for boys and girls indoor track was moved to Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Suffolk CC-Brentwood.
