Barbato's no-hitter leads Holy Trinity softball

Nicole Barbato tossed a no-hitter with two walks and 11 strikeouts for Holy Trinity in a 10-0 win over St. Mary's Wednesday in CHSAA softball.

Barbato added two hits for the Titans (7-6). Nicole Petiteo and Nicole Petkevicius each went 3-for-3 in the win.Manhasset 4, Glen Cove 0: Senior Kristen Leung threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk to lead Manhasset (8-9) in Nassau Conference ABC-III. Leung lost the perfect game with a walk in the top of the fifth.

West Hempstead 14, Malverne 0: Paige Bettineschi threw a five-inning no-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts and had a two-run homer for West Hempstead (12-2 Conference VI). Michelle Zur went 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs and two stolen bases in the win.Carey 5, Farmingdale 2: Patti Callahan had 26 strikeouts for Carey (11-2 Conference I) in a 15-inning game that was resumed after being suspended by darkness on March 25. Jess Doria singled to drive in Melissa Deleon for the go-ahead run in the top of the 15th.Valley Stream South 2, Clarke 1: Samantha Howley was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored on a single by Jessica Liberato in the fifth inning to give Valley Stream South (7-9) a 2-0 lead in Conference ABC-II. Ashley Tkacsik struck out eight and walked none in a four-hitter for South (7-9).

St. Anthony's 3, St. John the Baptist 1: Katie Costanzo had a two-run single in the sixth inning to give St. Anthony's (13-0) a 3-0 lead in CHSAA. Michelle Carbone struck out five, allowed four hits and walked two for her 11th win.Centereach 4, West Islip 3: Cassie Martinez hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Centereach (8-7) in Suffolk League III. Martinez didn't allow an earned run in a six-hitter. Roxanne DeCosimo had a two-run single in the third to tie the score at 2 for Centereach and DeCosimo added an RBI in the fifth to make it 3-2.Baseball

North Shore 3, West Hempstead 2: Adam Gilbert scored on a two-out error in the bottom of the sixth to give North Shore (9-5) a 3-2 lead in Conference A-II. Colin Hennenberger struck out three in 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief and stranded a runner on third after coming in with one out in the top of the sixth.

Carle Place 5, Locust Valley 4: Ricky Jarvis hit a tying two-run home run in the fifth inning and a go-ahead home run in the sixth to lead Carle Place (5-10) in Conference BC. Stephen Laurino went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBIs in the win.

Centereach 13, Smithtown East 5: Tino Rockelein hit a grand slam in the second inning and a three-run home run in the fourth to lead Centereach (8-3) in League III. Andrew Abreu went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and Matt Dixon and Chris Stockman each went 3-for-4.

East Islip 5, West Islip 4: Kyle Anderson struck out four and walked one in a complete game and had a two-run single in the top of the sixth to put East Islip (5-9) ahead 4-2 in League III.

Chaminade 5, Kellenberg 1: Peter Burrows walked three and struck out seven in a five-hitter and Andrew Gallagher went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Chaminade (5-7 CHSAA). Paul Croche was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run for the Flyers.
