Bay Shore's McGowan, ESM's Havens toss five-inning no-hitters

Junior Taylor McGowan struck out 13 and walked two in a five-inning no-hitter as Bay Shore (4-0) beat Northport 15-0 in a Suffolk League II softball game Thursday. McGowan, who has thrown four previous no-hitters, lost her shot at a perfect game with a two-out walk in the third inning.

Marissa Brightman was 2-for-2 with a bases-loaded triple and four RBIs. Liz Weber went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. This is Bay Shore's fourth straight shutoutto start the season.

Eastport-South Manor 12, Comsewogue 0: Junior Catherine Havens tossed her first career no-hitter for Eastport-South Manor (3-2) in a five-inning League V win. Havens struck out 11 and walked none. One Comsewogue runner reached base on an error in the third inning. Brianna Clarke and Michelle Iannone homered for Eastport-South Manor.

Farmingdale 7, Mepham 6: Kristie Summus hit a two-out single with the bases loaded to score Isabella Corrao in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it for Farmingdale (2-1) in Nassau Conference AA-I. Kelly Ann Keenan, who went 5-for-5 with three RBIs, tied the score at 5 with a single in the bottom of the seventh for Farmingdale. The Dalers had trailed 4-0. Mepham took a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh.

Floral Park 3, Plainedge 0: Samantha Giovanniello threw a two-hitter, walking none and striking out nine for Floral Park (4-0) in Conference ABC-I. Lindsay Trifon went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Allison Bostrom went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

New Hyde Park 5, Sewanhaka 4: Amy Maxwell hit a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth to drive in Katie Morales for New Hyde Park (1-3) in Conference ABC-I. Briana Kresback's RBI double in the bottom of the seventh for NHP cut the deficit to 4-3, and Kresback's two-out steal of home later in the inning tied the score.

Oyster Bay 3, Valley Stream South 2: Keri Bongiovanni (2-for-3, run) hit a one-out, walk-off double to score Maddie Howes in the seventh for Oyster Bay (2-2) in Conference ABC-II.

North Shore 2, Manhasset 1: Meghan Filka went 2-for-2 and scored the winning run on an error in the bottom of the seventh for North Shore (3-1) in Conference ABC-III. Lexi Marshall had five strikeouts in three innings of relief for the win.

Locust Valley 5, Roslyn 4: Nicole Rozzo's one-out RBI single scored Gabby Graziose with the winning run for Locust Valley (2-1) in Conference ABC-IV. Graziose doubled earlier to score Jessica Diaz with the tying run. Locust Valley trailed 4-3 entering the seventh inning. Rozzo was 2-for-3. Winning pitcher Nicole Dooley tossed a complete game with six strikeouts. She was also 2-for-3 with a double, triple and run scored.

Holy Trinity 5, Our Lady of Mercy 3: Lauren Zanfonte scored on a sacrifice fly by Nicole Petitto to give Holy Trinity (2-0) a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth in CHSAA. Kayla Rizzi pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth to seal the win. After Holy Trinity took a 3-1 lead in the top of the eighth, Our Lady of Mercy tied the score in the bottom of the frame. Samantha Piscione (2-for-4 with two RBIs) tied the score at 1 for Holy Trinity with a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning.
