Jacoby's no-hitter leads Huntington softball victory

Samantha Jacoby struck out 16 and tossed her second no-hitter in three games for Huntington in a 5-0 win over Comsewogue Thursday in Suffolk League V softball.

It's the third no-hitter of the season for Jacoby, who lost her bid for perfect game after hitting a batter in the fourth inning. Ellen Burns went 2-for-2 and Karina Antinuci had two RBIs for Huntington (5-9).Kellenberg 11, St. Mary's 1: Emily Barnable struck out nine and walked five in a five-inning no-hitter to lead Kellenberg (10-3 CHSAA). Jackie Marino went 3-for-4 with three runs and Sam Trotta added a triple and three RBIs.

Connetquot 5, Sachem North 3: Emily Mazzaro hit a two-run homer in the fourth to give Connetquot (7-9) a 5-3 lead in League II. Amanda Morelli scored Kristie Guarino with a single earlier that inning to tie the score at 3. Chelsea LaMarca struck out seven and allowed no earned runs in a four-hitter.

Eastport-South Manor 1, Hauppauge 0: Catherine Havens struck out eight in a two-hitter to lead Eastport-South Manor (12-3), which handed Hauppauge (13-1) its first loss of the season in League V. Chelsea Kull drove in Havens with a two-out single in the top of the fifth.

Mepham 5, Massapequa 4: Kristan Taylor scored on an error in the bottom of the eighth to win it for Mepham (6-9) in Nassau Conference AA-I. Taylor went 4-for-4. Shannon McLean and Victoria Gunnels hit back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh to tie it at 4. Gunnels struck out six in a five-hitter and had three RBIs.

Valley Stream Central 9, Hicksville 8: Jackie Mancini drove in Deandre Ramkarran with a single in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Valley Stream Central (10-6 Conference AA-III), which overcame an 8-4 deficit after six. Melanie Ruderman's two-run single tied the score at 8 for VSC.BASEBALL

Comsewogue 8, Hauppauge 7: Rich Kissane scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh after an attempted steal of third to win it for Comsewogue (2-13 League V). Kissane tied the score at 7 with a solo homer in the fifth. Nick Calamia tossed a four-hitter for the win and Matt Reistetter scored the 100th run of his career.

Longwood 8, Commack 5: Nick Leggio hit a three-run triple in the top of the seventh to give Longwood (10-2) an 8-5 lead in League I. Longwood led 5-0 after two innings, but Commack chipped away and tied the score in the sixth. Longwood's Brandon McClain had a home run and two runs.Rocky Point 2, Westhampton 1: Joe Bloom's pinch-hit single scored Rich Cambria with one out in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Rocky Point (8-4) in League VI. Brine Gill struck out seven and walked none in a four-hitter.

MacArthur 5, East Meadow 0: Josh Barry struck out nine and walked two in a one-hitter to lead MacArthur (12-3) in Conference AA-I. Barry lost the no-hitter with one out in the fifth when a ground ball to the second baseman took a bad hop. Frankie Vanderka had two doubles and two runs.Plainedge 7, Division 6: Ralph Caccavale's single drove in Brendan Swayne in the top of the sixth to give Plainedge (9-6) a 7-4 lead in Conference A-I. Joe Pugliese's two-run single in the top of the fourth gave Plainedge a 6-0 lead. Will Crapo struck out six and walked one for the win.Lynbrook 6, North Shore 5: Matt Patick (2-for-3, four RBIs) drove in Justin Randazzo and Chris McGrane in the bottom of the third to give Lynbrook (8-6-1) a 6-3 lead in Conference A-II. Spencer Kirsch pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the save.Holy Trinity 5, St. Anthony's 2: Anthony Brunetti had a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to give Holy Trinity a 5-2 lead in CHSAA. Holy Trinity (9-5) took a 3-0 lead in the fifth on RBI singles by Joe DeVito and Jack Parenty and a two-run double by Sachin Kirtane. Max Almonte struck out 11 and walked one for the Titans in a three-hitter.
