Nassau All-County Selections

These are the 2010 Nassau All-County honorees, as voted on by the Softball Coaches' Association. A big thank you to Bobby Tedeschi for faxing over the list. Big congratulations, props and big-ups (and whatever young people are calling kudos these days) to all of you on the list. The all-division and all-conference selections, as well. It was a pleasure covering y'all and the teams I did get to meet were a lot of fun. You had tremendous seasons and you, your families, coaches, teammates and friends should be proud. The annoying Newsday Guy is proud of you, too. So proud, I had to bring this back:

It's corny, but ya love it.

Big shout-out to the seniors, too. You guys are going off to college and about to flip to the next chapters of your lives, but I hope you'll look back on your high school careers with fond memories. Take it from an old person: college goes by real fast. I don't know why, but those four years seem to go by much quicker than the four years of high school. It's kind of a blur, and before you know it, you're in your 20s and thinking about how old you are and how high school seemed like it was just the other day. And you'll miss it. Yeah, if you're 17 or 18, this sounds like old-people talk. But when you get to 22, you'll know. The point of this rambling is - cherish this time. This time right now, when you're able to look back on what you've accomplished before having to take on the next endeavor. For those who haven't had graduation yet, soak it up when it comes. Enjoy this summer. And enjoy what you've done the last four years. Cheers!
