The Suffolk Scene: Martinez tosses a no-hitter

First no-hitter of the night! And it's a seven inning one, here (courtesy of Laura Albanese) is the write-up:

Centereach 10, North Babylon 0: Cassie Martinez tossed a no-hitter, with one walk and 12 strikeouts to lead Centereach (1-2) in League III. It's the senior's first career no-hitter; she had retired the minimum up till the fourth inning, when a fielder's error and a walk cost the prefect game. "She had all her pitches working today," said coach Sal Santoro. "She was hitting all her spots. She did her job and threw strikes." Martinez retired four out of the six four batters she faced on strikeouts. "She said she had a good warn-up and that's always a good sign," Santoro said. Freshman Emma Agostini went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Arianna LaPuma went 2-for-4 with three runs.

disclaimer: we won't blog every perfect game or no-hitter, but I wanted to get this online and start some discussions on the blog.
