The Section XI (Suffolk) Division I wrestling championships scheduled for today were postponed and will resume Tuesday at Hofstra University at 9:30 a.m.

With the road conditions still not passable in many school districts in Suffolk, officials were forced to postpone the first day of wrestling. There is no wrestling for either county at Hofstra University today.

The Section VIII (Nassau) Division I wrestling championships will hold the semifinal round at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The finals are expected to start at 8 p.m. after the conclusion of the first day of the Suffolk sectional tournament.

According to Nassau wrestling chairman Ed Ramirez of Baldwin, the Suffolk sectional tournament should finish wrestling by 6 p.m. so the Nassau sectional tournament finals can begin at 8 p.m.

"We are hoping that we can coordinate the tournaments and keep everything flowing," Ramirez said. "We are working together to make this happen."

Suffolk will hold the second day of its tournament on Wednesday at a site to be determined.

The Nassau Division II tournament was completed Sunday at Carle Place High School. The Suffolk Division II tournament will be held at Center Moriches at a date and time to be determined.

The Suffolk Track State Qualifier, scheduled for Monday at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood, has been postponed. The event will likely be rescheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday, according to Suffolk track coordinator Tony Toro.
