Newsday's All-Long Island girls swimming team 2017

Meet the players who earned first-team honors for Newsday's All-Long Island girls swimming team in 2017.

Long Island swimmer of the year: Chloe Stepanek, Soph., Northport

It was a record breaking season for Chloe

It was a record breaking season for Chloe Stepanek.

The Northport sophomore, who swims for the combined Commack/Northport squad, won state titles in both the 100-yard (49.93) and 200-yard freestyles (1:47.63) November 18 at Ithaca College. Both times lowered her own Suffolk records.

She also won the 500-yard freestyle at the Suffolk championships (5:01.53), which was a county record.

Nassau swimmer of the year: Lauryn Johnson, Jr., Sacred Heart

Johnson had a busy weekend at the state championships at Ithaca College.

The junior took second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.24 and finished third in the 100-butterfly in a time of 55.22. Johnson was also a part of the third-place 200-free relay (1:37.09) and helped Sacred Heart win the 400-free relay in the last race of the meet (3:32.25).

Cash was an integral part of the winning 400-free relay team (3:32.25) and the third-place 200-free relay team at the state championships at Ithaca College. Cash also finished third in the 50-free (23.68) and fourth in the 100-free (51.51).

Catherine Stanford, So., Oceanside

Stanford was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (23.84)

Stanford was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (23.84) and fifth in the 100-free (51.66) at the state championships at Ithaca College.She was the Nassau county champion in both events

Briana Gellineau, Soph., St. Anthony’s

Gellineau finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.07)

Gellineau finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.07) and sixth in the 500-free (5:00.10) at the state championships at Ithaca College. She was also a member of St. Anthony's third-place 400-free relay (3:32.77) team.

Patricia Arceri, Sr., Huntington

Arceri was Long Island's top diver, finishing ninth

Arceri was Long Island's top diver, finishing ninth in the state with a score of 463.05. Arceri was the two-time Suffolk champion.

Coach of the Year: Mary White, Sacred Heart

White presided over a team that finished third at the state championships at Ithaca College. Sacred Heart also had the winning 400-free relay team and the 200-free relay team finished third.
