Tenbrink gets winner for Smithtown East

Myles Feeney set up Jimmy Tenbrink for the game-winning goal with 3:07 left to lead No. 6 Smithtown East past No. 11 Whitman, 8-7, in the first round of the Suffolk Class A boys lacrosse playoffs. Brian Balkam stopped 13 of 20 shots for Smithtown East (11-6) which visits No. 3 Ward Melville in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Whitman is 10-7.

Hills East 13, Sachem East 6: Jesse Parker had six goals and two assists and Dan Bockelman had three goals and two assists to lead No. 10 Hills East past No. 7 Sachem East in the first round. It is the first playoff win since 2005 for Hills East (10-7) which advances to play at No. 2 Smithtown West in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Sachem East finishes 9-8.

Bay Shore 11, Hills West 4: Lucas Rock scored three of his four goals in the first half to lead No. 5 Bay Shore (12-5) past No. 12 Hills West in the first round. Bay Shore visits No. 4 Sachem North in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Hills West finishes 9-8.

Northport 17, West Babylon 6: Brian Cannon and Sean Gilroy each had four goals to lead No. 8 Northport over No. 9 West Babylon in the first round. Northport (11-6) will visit No. 1 West Islip in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Tuesday. West Babylon finishes 10-7.

St. Anthony's 13, Fairfield Prep 11: Sean McDonagh had four goals and an assist and Dillon Molloy had three goals and two assists to lead St. Anthony's (15-3) in non-league.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Garden City 18, Lynbrook 2: Alexandra Bruno and Krista Dampman each had three goals to lead No. 1 Garden City over No. 8 Lynbrook in the Nassau Class B quarterfinals. Garden City (12-5) plays the No. 4 Long Beach in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Adelphi. Lynbrook finishes 6-9.

Manhasset 21, Hewlett 5: Halle Majorana scored five goals and Linsey Ronbeck scored four goals to lead No. 2 Manhasset over No. 7 Hewlett in the quarterfinals. Manhasset (13-4) advances to the semifinals to face No. 3 Wantagh at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Adelphi.

Wantagh 18, South Side 5: Colleen Lovett had five goals and seven assists to lead No. 3 Wantagh (12-5) over No. 6 South Side in the quarterfinals.
