New Rochelle ended the regular season with a .500 record. Now, the Huguenots are 32 minutes from a state championship.

The Huguenots earned a berth in the title game with a convincing 60-46 victory over Long Island champion Northport in Saturday's Class AA state semifinal at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Forward Joe Clarke paced New Rochelle with 22 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals and six assists, while forward Khalil Edney added 13 points and four rebounds.

The team will face either Bishop Kearney or Troy in the state final on Sunday at the civic center at 3:15 p.m.

"This is something I've been dreaming of my whole life," New Rochelle guard Sean Fener told MSG Varsity. "I can't believe we are actually 32 minutes away from a state championship."

Regardless of who New Rochelle plays in the final, it will be undersized -- like it was in Saturday's semifinal. Northport center Luke Petrasek, a 6-foot-9 senior, had 22 points and eight rebounds. But the Huguenots were effective at limiting Petrasek and taking advantage of their quickness.

New Rochelle forced 18 turnovers, many of which came in the second quarter when it built a nine-point halftime lead.

Forward Terrence Holden came off the bench and was a spark in the second half, scoring all nine of his points after the break to go along with five rebounds. Fener and forward Derek Dorn each added seven points and combined for eight boards in the win.
