Notes from Massapequa's win Over Plainview

A bit of a suprise yesterday, as Massapequa (9-1) climbed from a 2-1 hole to hand Plainview JFK (10-1) its first defeat of the year. After winning the third, JFK, on their home court, appeared to have taken control. And only one set away from a perfect regular season, I thought they would close it out.

But solid outings from juniors Chris Husmann and Christian Smith heped put Pequa a 1/2 game back in the Conference I standings.

One note that didn't make today's paper: Pequa's Jesse Finkel left yesterday's game with what appeared to be a dislocated or separated shoulder. As he left the gym to get the shoulder checked out at the hospital, his teammates began chanting his name. For Pequa's sake, hopefully Finkel is ready to go come playoff time.

Upset of the Night: Syosset rebounded from its Tuesday loss to Plainview to shock Port Washington in three games. Now, Syosset and Massapequa (who play each other on Tuesday) each have one loss, Plainview finished its regular season with one loss and Port is currently in fourth place with two defeats.
