Wolf, Gaffney lead Mineola lacrosse win

Senior Spencer Wolf scored a career-high six goals and sophomore Brian Gaffney tied a career high with five assists for Mineola in a 12-7 win over North Shore Wednesday in Nassau Conference IV boys lacrosse.

Tim Gill broke a tie at 7 with a goal late in the third, igniting a 5-0 run for Mineola (2-3). With a win on May 14 against Island Trees, Mineola will clinch their first playoff berth in 20 years.Port Washington 16, Plainview JFK 6: Senior John Keren had a career-high seven points (two goals, five assists) and sophomore John Crawley tied a season high with four goals and three assists, for Port Washington (3-5) in Conference I.

Farmingdale 8, Syosset 3: Korey Hendrickson had three goals and Mike Perettine added two goals and an assist for Farmingdale (6-1) in Conference I. Joe Ostrander led a Dalers defense that shut out Syosset in the second and third quarters.Bay Shore 16, Whitman 12: Senior midfielder Kevin Cox had a career-high six goals and two assists for Bay Shore (6-3) in Suffolk Division I. Cox and Lucas Rock (one goal, three assists) each had a goal and an assist during a 4-1 first quarter in the win. Brendan Gaine added five goals and two assists and Griffin Rock two scores and an assist in the win.Ward Melville 7, Half Hollow Hills East 2: Sean Cleary had three goals for Ward Melville (9-1) in Division I. Brendan Hegarty, Frank Lucutuorto and Michael Rastivo each had a goal and an assist as the Patriots outscored Hills East 6-2 in the second half.West Islip 22, Floyd 5: A school-record 18 players registered at least one point for West Islip (10-0) in Division I. Tom Moore led the Lions with three goals.Smithtown West 16, Lindenhurst 1: Matt Schultz had three goals and three assists and Craig Madarasz scored a goal and won 11 of 12 faceoffs to lead Smithtown West (8-1) in Division I. Ryan Keenan added two goals and two assists.Sachem North 12, West Babylon 4: Dalton Crossan had four goals, Brandon Gamblin added three goals and an assist and Kyle Rhatigan had a goal and three assists to lead Sachem North (7-3) in Division I.Connetquot 15, Half Hollow Hills West 2: Steve Hartnett scored a goal, won 15 of 18 faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls to lead Connetquot (6-3) in Division I. Mike Sclafani tallied six points (two goals, four assists), Craig Kiernan added four scores and an assist and Mike Pinto had two goals and three assists in the win.Smithtown East 10, East Islip 9: Gary Watson scored the winner with 6:30 left to lift Smithtown East (5-4) in Division I. Dylan Senft broke a tie at 8 with 7:47 left in the fourth. GIRLS GOLFSmithtown East 8.5, Northport .5:Carly Peters shot a 4-over-40 on the front nine at Smithtown Landing Country Club for Smithtown East (6-0) in League II.
