I spoke with David Gregory, one of the members of the NHL's Central Scouting Bureau, last week, and he gave some insightful comments on 10 of the top prospects in the June draft, which the indomitable Mike Casey put together into a nice-looking slideshow for you.
The CSB is meeting this week to determine the year-end rankings; you can follow updates from their meetings over at NHL.com, which will announce the rankings on April 12.
The Islanders are just about locked into the top 5 of the draft, which means a lottery shot at No. 1; though, as Gregory told me, there is no clear-cut No. 1 this year, perhaps not even a clear-cut top three or four. Which is good news for the Isles, who will pick in the 3-5 range without any lottery help.
The draft is June 24-25 in St. Paul, Minn. And we'll have wall-to-wall coverage of it, as always, here and on the Isles and Rangers blogs.
