Washington has made a couple strong moves in the last few minutes, bringing in former Predators winger Joel Ward (4 years, $12-million) and former Isle defenseman Roman Hamrlik (2 years, $7-million).

Ward shined in Nashville's playoff run, with seven goals in 12 games, but he's also 30 and has 40 goals in 241 NHL games.

Hamrlik, pictured above, is still a steady presence on the blue line and still has some bite, but he's 37. Still, the Caps needed some fresh blood, given how stale they went in being swept by the Lightning after downing the Rangers.
